Spiritual Letter 42 Closing Comments and Prayer - Final E-mail Version Return to Spiritual Letter 42: 12. Closing Comments and Prayer - please forgive me Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim. In the name of God, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate. Al-salam 'alaykum wa-rahmat Allah wa-barakatuhu kulluhu. May all the peace, the beneficence, and the blessing of God be upon all of us. May God help us all. Please forgive me my dearest loving brother Muhammad Lateef if anything within this letter of the heart is wrong or upsets you, or upsets any of the other members of the Executive Committee of the Bawa Muhaiyaddeen Fellowship, or any of the other brothers and sisters of the Bawa Muhaiyaddeen Fellowship, or any other religious groups, or anyone else living in the world today, or in the future. Please forgive this brother for everything that he has done knowingly, and not knowingly, to harm the heart or mind of any of our wonderful brothers and sisters, who in 1975 accepted this child "Louie Beutler" into your "Funny Family", a child who in his 36 years before coming to the Fellowship had been rejected by the world in every adventure that he undertook, whether it was family life, school, sports, the military, business, husband-ship, and fatherhood, and yet you my dearest loving brothers and sister took this orphan of God's grace, this wondering soul, into your hearts, first as "Maintenance Louie", then as "Crisi's Husband", and finally for some of you as, "Shaikh Muhaiyaddeen". For those of you who have not felt it in your hearts to love and accept this child as "Shaikh Muhaiyaddeen" we can certainly relate to your distress, for there is nothing of "Shaikh Muhaiyaddeen" within Louie Beutler, for that is another section within this child that only our Father, Shaikh Muhammad Rahim Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with Him), and God within Him, can truly see, love, and embrace within this child. Al-hamdu lillah. Allahu Akbar. So your rejection of Louie Beutler as Shaikh Muhaiyaddeen is completely understandable, and for you correct, for only when "Louie Beutler" is completely gone, will "Shaikh Muhaiyaddeen truly be there, and we lovingly accept this truth of our life, and we hold no malice toward any of you in this regard, and realize that only my own "separation and differences" are truly at fault, not any of you. For as God told the Prophet Jonah (peace be upon Him) when his whole congregation rejected him, after he had "agreed with God" to destroy them, since they were not accepting and following what God had told him to tell them, and after he went on his mystical journey into the belly of the whale, ending up on a desert island, with the milk of a deer as his only food, and the shade of one tree as his only comfort, having lost everything, including his wife and children, and only through the grace of God, and his repentance, did God return him to his congregation to find that everything was still as it was before he had left, before he left on his "journey of awakening", for God had protected them from him, and then God said to the Prophet Jonah (peace be upon Him), "O Jonah (peace be upon Him) the only reason the people of your congregation did not listen to you initially was because of your differences, because you treated them as separate from you, as separate from your own family, as separate from you own wife, and children, not as your true family, as your true wife, and your true children, as the family, wife, and children of the open heart, of the one heart of God, as I do." "This is why they rejected you as their leader, not because of anything that they did, or failed to do. Know this now, my Prophet (A.S.) and start to act accordingly." In this way, my dearest loving brother and sisters, this child is a fool and doesn't know anything, so you must forgive me the way you would forgive a little child who with his first step thinks that he can walk, and with his first sounds thinks that he can speak, when in truth he has just started his journey to walking and speaking. But with this said, what is contained within the heart of this child, of your brother Shaikh Muhaiyaddeen (Louie Beutler) is of great value, and is reflected in a very, very small way in this letter to Muhammad Lateef, and in the many letters and conversations of love and wisdom that we have all had over the last 27 years, and is also reflected in a very, very small way within the Children's Part of the "Bawa Muhaiyaddeen Library", as but one small speck, one very small part of the incredible legacy of the life and teaching of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen for this age (may God be pleased Him), which is the gift of God for this age, for this age of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with Him), for all of the Children of God for this age, which is all of us living in this age. As in truth, each of your hearts are of great value, as reflected in your words, your letters, your actions, your qualities, and your conversations, also being a small but important part of this same wonderful thing that God has done in this age, to the Children of God for this age, this "Thing of God" called the life and teaching of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with Him), the life and teaching of the Children of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with each of Us), and the "The Bawa Muhaiyaddeen Fellowship". Never forget that, and never doubt that. In this way, and only in this way, though small and relatively insignificant, this legacy of this version, the "Louie Beutler" version, of the life and teaching of Shaikh Muhaiyaddeen for the age of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with Him), as reflected in this letter, and as reflected in the Children's Part of the "Bawa Muhaiyaddeen Library", is of value, and all of it is yours, not mine, for this child has already received it, and its blessings. And always keep in mind that all of this "outside" stuff is not really the main point, but is only how this child is sharing the main point, the main point which is his life with Bawa within him, and with God within Bawa. It is only how he is sharing his true experiences with Bawa within him, and with God within Bawa, all of which are never really happening "outside" of us, but are in truth always happening "inside" of us, which we can always join, if we will but realize, understand, and accept them, in this way, making our "inside" and our "outside" into one, making our words and our actions into one, and in this way, successfully moving our life from the 71st and 72nd groups of man, who trust and love in both God and the world, into the 73rd group of man, becoming one with those within us who trust and love only in God, not in the world. Only then will our life be truly successful. So this "outside" sharing is but one small way, but a very important way, to give you a peek into his "inside" life, the daily life of living at the feet of his Shaikh, at the Divine feet of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with Him), and of God within Him, watching as They conduct his life, not him, and watching as They conduct all of the lives around him, not the lives around him. For in truth, in all things, They are in charge, not him, not any of us. This is the greatest learning of our life, how to do this. Al-hamdu lillah. Allahu Akbar. For as Bawa teaches us on page 141, in the "Epilogue", of the beautiful book by Bawa, "Islam and World Peace: Explanations of a Sufi", "Our entire life and everything that happens to us is conducted by Allah, not by us. He is the One who carries out everything. He is responsible for the cause and the effect." This is the true experience of the Shaikh-Disciple Relationship. Please never forget that, my dearest loving brothers and sister, and don't be too concerned about this or any other "outside" thing. It is the "inside", your personal relationship with Bawa within you, and with God within Him, that matters. For it is the Power of God which naturally flows in this true Shaikh-Disciple Relationship, that really matters, nothing else. Nothing else will save us from an eternal life of "separation from" God. Only this Power of God will liberate our soul from 200 million years of darkness, awakening the wisdom surrounding our soul, awakening the wisdom that can pull out the 5 nails of desire for earth, fire, water, air, and ether that have grown within us, that have crucified the life of our soul within us on our elemental body, that have crucified Jesus (peace be upon Him) within you, so we can sin, so we can live a life of "separation and differences" with our brothers and sisters in the world that we collectively see in our ignorance as existing on the "outside" of us. That's what matters. However, Bawa does teach us that it is our duty to share these "inside" experiences of wisdom and truth, with our brothers and sisters on the "outside" of us, and that is what this letter, and the Children's Part of the "Bawa Muhaiyaddeen Library" is all about. This child doing his duty to his brother and sisters, as Bawa has told all of us to do. Nothing more, and nothing less. It is just a little thing, but it is an important thing, a thing that we all must try to do, when it becomes appropriate for us to do it. At that point in our spiritual life we must all try to do this type of duty, as it provides a very important link between the members of the Bawa Muhaiyaddeen Family, a link that helps bind us all together, a link between those who have been walking the path for a while, all be it a very short while, and those who are just beginning the journey, but especially for those who are still contemplating whether to even take the journey or not. So please accept this gift from your older brother, my dearest loving brothers and sisters, and perhaps, for some of you who are not yet 27 years old, from your heart father, my dearest loving sons and daughters, for those of you who may have been born out of the heart relationship of this child and Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with Him), and of God within Him, as we were born out of the heart relationship between Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (Ral.), and His Shaikh, the Light form known as the Nur Muhammad, and God within Him, since many of you are young enough to be my children of the heart, since this child was born 64 years ago (November 26, 1938 or 4 Shawwal 1357), and met Bawa 27 years ago, in 1975 (the exact date is written in Arabic at the bottom of the Light Box at the Fellowship). This is how it truly works. Either way, please accept this "outside" gift of the heart, to give you a glimpse of the "inside" life of wisdom and truth of this child, of this Child of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (Ral.), from my heart to your heart, from your loving brother or father of the heart, Shaikh Muhaiyaddeen (Louie Beutler). And please stay alert, for most certainly other "outside" versions of the life and teaching of Shaikh Muhaiyaddeen for the age of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with Him) will soon come to your attention, like the Ahamd Muhaiyaddeen version, the Kjaja Muhaiyaddeen version, the Sultan Muhaiyaddeen version, the Asma'el Muhaiyaddeen version (may God be pleased with all facets and versions of His Muhaiyaddeen). As well as all other facets and versions of the "Muhaiyaddeen" of God for this age, of the "Giver of life back to true belief" for this age, that Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with Him), the Father of all the many facets and versions of the "Muhaiyaddeen of God" for this age, has told us about, and has personally demonstrated for us, day after day, in Ceylon or Sri Lanka from 1886 to 1971, and in America from 1971 to 1986, until His physically passing on December 8th, 1986, a time period of 100 years with His Children of the world. A time period of 100 years of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with Him) joining as One with the Children of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with each of Us), with all of His Children who are still living in the world, in their mind and desire, and who have not yet learned how to live in their hearts, within their wisdom and truth, before they die, before their fate takes them to meet the Angel of Death, and then they have to experience the suffering of the grave, and Qiyamah (the Standing Forth; the Day of Judgment). And before they are doomed to an eternal life of "separation from" God, because they have repeatedly refused to voluntarily give up their life of "separation from" God, doomed to hell forever, all within the Justice of God. For as Bawa teaches us, "The Justice of God is that whatever you intend is what you will receive." In this way, may we all learn to join with our wisdom, and with the truth of God within us, to join with our Shaikh within us, and with God within Him, to move into our hearts before we die, before it is too late, and before the "beast" within all of us comes out of one of us to destroy the "outside" of all of us, destroying any chance of any of us getting it right before we die, and learn to do our duty "here" from "there", not "here" from "here", as Bawa did, and as Bawa showed us how to do for 100 years. May we all do it this way, my dearest loving brothers and sisters of the heart. And please stay alert, as well, for all the versions of Muhammad Abdul Qadir, of Muhammad Abdul Raheem, of Muhammad Abdul Rahman, of Muhammad Abdul Malik, of Muhammad Abdul Jabbar, of Muhammad Abdul Razzaq, of Muhammad Abdul Baseer, of Muhammad Abdul Hakam, of Muhammad Abdul Lateef, of Muhammad Abdul Khabir, of Muhammad Abdul Kabeer, of Muhammad Abdul Jalil, of Muhammad Abdul Kareem, of Muhammad Abdul Mujib, of Muhammad Abdul Majib, and of Muhammad Abdul Haqq, (may God be pleased with all of His Slaves and Prophets and Representatives for this age of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen [Ral.]). As well as all the versions of the other 99 Muhammad Abdul's of God, of all of the Lights within the Slaves of the Asma'ul Husna of God, of the 99 Beautiful Names of Allah, as well as all of the female versions of these 99 names of God, and all of the other beautiful names, qualities, and actions of God that Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with Him), has blessed the Children of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen with (may God be pleased with each of Us), by so naming them. Al-hamdu lillah. Allahu Akbar. In this way, please stay alert, my dearest loving brothers and sisters, for all of these manifestations of the Mercy and Compassion of God in the world, in the age of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with Him), and learn the wisdom and qualities of God, the duties and actions of God from them. That is the gift of God for this age, my dearest loving brothers and sisters, God Himself and all aspects of God Himself, not for us to "work for wages to get into heaven". Please do it like that. That would be good for all of us. Al-hamdu lillah. Allahu Akbar. So please treat it carefully, please treat the Children's Part of the "Bawa Muhaiyaddeen Library", very carefully, it is part, a very, very small part, but still a part of your legacy, your heritage from God, for the Brothers and Sisters of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (Ral,.), for the Sons and Daughters of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (Ral.), and for the Grandchildren of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (Ral.). And if you find things in it that are wrong, please forgive me, please forgive Louie Beutler, and if you find things in it that make your heart melt and open, that make your love and trust in God grow, and that awaken the "wisdom surrounding your soul", and begin to reveal True Man within you, begin to reveal the truth of God hidden by God within the Creation of God within you, which is True Man within you, which is the hereafter or akhirah within you, then praise God for the Slaves, the Prophets, the Qutbs, and the Messengers of God within you. For it is all Their doing within you, not your doing. And in this way, if it begins to reveal God within you, within True Man within you, if it begins to reveal the Oneness of True Man hidden by True Man within the Creation of True Man within you, which is God within you, which is the dunya and awwal within you, which is this earth world, the 18,000 universes within you, and the Secret World of Allah within that, and the world of souls also within that, then praise God, and thank Him for the gift of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen for this age (may God be pleased with Him), and for the gift within the gift of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with Him) also for this age, and for the next age to come, which is the life and teaching of Shaikh Muhaiyaddeen for the age of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with Him). Please do it like that. That would be very good. Al-hamdu lillah. Allahu Akbar. And finally, concerning the correctness of what is within this letter, and within the Children's Part of the "Bawa Muhaiyaddeen Library", please treat it as Bawa asked us to treat what He gave us in 1945, after He gave us "Guru Mani" or "The Pearls of the Guru", where He tells us the following in the English version of that book, at the bottom of page 7, in the "Forward", in this wonderful book of very, very deep wisdom, "The Pearl of Wisdom", that was recently rendered into English, through the love and grace of God, and by the dedicated devotion and very hard work of our dearest and loving and recently departed brother Muhammadali Sultan Abdul Cader (Ral.), with the loving support and help of his loving wife and family, "Forgive me the wrong, and accept the good. So I request." And if there are things in it, in the Children's Part of the "Bawa Muhaiyaddeen Library", that you don't understand, then please be patient with it, and as Bawa teaches us about reading the material that He gave us, "Don't throw it away. Instead, put it on a shelf for later." And if at some point you want to look into it further, and this child of your heart is still with you in the world, then we can join together to discuss these words of wisdom and truth as much as you like, both the life and teaching of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with Him), and the life and teaching of Shaikh Muhaiyaddeen for the age of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with Him), for in truth we belong to each other, we are one family, we are in truth One. My life is your life, and your life is my life. You are my love. This is what Bawa is always telling us when He says, "My love you." And if this child is no longer "of the world", then that is also Ok. For all you ever have to do is say the word "Bawa", or "Bawa Muhaiyaddeen", or "Shaikh Muhammad Rahim Bawa Muhaiyaddeen" (may God be pleased with Him), and your wisdom, and the truth within it, which is your Shaikh within you, and God within Him, will be "present", ready to answer any question, or solve any problem that you may have, and that your brothers and sisters may have. Never forget that, never doubt that. Al-hamdu lillah. Allah Akbar. My love you (anbu) my dearest loving brothers and sisters, my dearest loving sons and daughters, of the One Open heart, that is Bawa Muhaiyaddeen for this age (may God be pleased with Him), your brother or father of the same heart - Shaikh Muhaiyaddeen (Louie Beutler). Finally, my dearest loving brother Muhammad Lateef, please give my love and salams to your wife and to your friends, and to all of our brothers and sisters of the Bawa Muhaiyaddeen Fellowship. Please tell them that Shaikh Muhaiyaddeen loves them very, very much, and that they are always in my prayers. Also, please share this letter with them, as it is very, very important that we all learn to do our "Bawa given jobs" together, respecting each other, but always ready to surrendering to the will of God within us, that is, to the will of our Shaikh within us, and to God within Him, ready to sacrifice everything to stay loyal to His will within us, ready to sacrifice our life, our family, our brothers and sisters, and even the Bawa Muhaiyaddeen Fellowship to stay within His loving embrace. Only in this way can we learn to live and work together properly, within the loving embrace of our Father, Shaikh Muhammad Rahim Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with Him), and of God within Him. My love you (anbu) - Shaikh Muhaiyaddeen (Louie Beutler) End of "Closing Comments & Prayer" - Final E-mail Version - --------------------------------- Return to Spiritual Letter 42: About Final E-mail Version One of the main characteristics of living at the feet of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen within us (may God be pleased with Him), and of God within Him, of living at that place of God's grace and love hidden by God within each of us, and in this way, working on everything as One with Them, like writing Spiritual Letter 42 to all of the Children of God in the world, is that They are not done until They are done, even if what They have done before or already, from the limited perspective of the disciple, is and was perfect. This is what happened to this child in writing the "Closing Comments & Prayer" to Spiritual Letter 42. We thought we were done, but They wern't done. In this case, having written a very beautiful, loving, and warm set of "Closing Comments & Prayer" to Spiritual Letter 42, a version that literally melted the heart of this child, completely satisfying the heart of this disciple of our Shaikh, believing that nothing more was needed, from the perspective of the disciple, They set about revising what was Initially written. Such is the grace of living at the Divine Feet of our Shaikh, and of God within Him. And we let Them. Such is the grace of the true Disciple, my dearest loving brothers and sisters. Know it now, and start to act accordingly. Start to join Them, in what They are doing within us, which is to reveal True Man within the Creation of God, and to reveal God within the Creation of True man, and start to let Them, let Them finish what They have started within us. Such is the true path of God, the Straight Path, the Suratal Mustaqueem. This is one of the great learnings living at the feet of God for our age, He knows best, and will not stop, until only He is there, not us as "separate from" Him, or His Creation as "separate from" Him, or until we stop Him, by repeatedly refusing to give up our life of "separation from" Him. So after having joined with Them to write the "Initial Version" of the last topic in Spiritual Letter 42, which was "Closing Comments and Prayer", They wrote another version, a second version. After writing an "Initial Version", which was written from 12 AM Friday morning until around 8 AM Friday morning, on January 10, 2003, a version of the ending to this beautiful heart letter which was so very needed by this child, at that time, in order to comfort and strengthen his heart, in order for him to "stay the course", so to speak, in order to let what They were doing within the heart of this child, come to completion, then They then wrote another version. In this way, we wrote the "Initial Version" of the last section of this letter Friday morning, allowing the first and the second pages of the three page E-mail to be sent out, to all of our loving brothers and sisters of the Bawa Muhaiyaddeen Fellowship, with the first page going out Friday morning, and the second page going out Friday night. And then we slept for 10 hours. But then on Sunday morning when preparing to send out page three of the E-mail, which was just the "Closing Comments and Prayer", again They went to work within this child, producing the second version of the "Closing Comments and Prayer", building on what was there, but adding significantly to it, and producing a message which was also very beautiful, and exactly what this child needed to here at that time, but with a very different tone, taste, and quality, so to speak, the tone, taste, and quality of Sunday, not of Friday, which was the tone, taste, and quality of the earlier version. What a wonder is this God of ours, and of His Messenger for this age, for this age of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with Him), which is now the Children of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with each of Us), which is now each of us living in this age, if we but want it, if we but let it happen within us. Amen, Amen, Ya Rabil Alameen. Amen, Amen, Ya Rahman Alameen. Amen, Amen, Ya Rahim Alameen. Al-hamdu lillah. Allahu Akbar. Such is part of the mystical nature of man's body, of the seven days of the week, which in truth are part of the grace of the Guru, of His gnaana magic (The Divine Word) of the Guru, which is comprised of seven sakthis (forces), which Bawa teaches us were originally created by God within Muhammad (Sal.) as seven days, and within the seven days, the seven planets as seven celestial beings. Which when we begin to understand explains the nature of our fate, of what rules over us, until, through the grace of God, through the grace of our Shaikh within us, and of God within Him, we learn to rule over Them within us. Al-hamdu lillah. Allahu Akbar. All of this is beautifully explained to us by Bawa, if we will but let the explanation come, beginning on page 104, in Chapter 30, "The Mystical Meaning of Man's Body", in the beautiful book, full of very, very deep wisdom, "The Pearl of Wisdom". For example, at the beginning of Chapter 30 Bawa teaches us the following, ---------------- Beginning of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (Ral.) Material ---------------- "Disciple: O Master Guru, you have related to me the story of the pond. Please teach me its secrets, potentialities, and inner meaning. Guru: O dear Son, I shall answer your question. Listen carefully. I shall tell you, point by point, the inner meaning of this pond. The pond is the secret of Manu-eesan's (Man-the-divine, or True Man) appearance and life on earth. Inside this pond are three important things, namely water, fire, and air which spring forth, overflow, and meander. The earth bears the burden of these elements. Together these four are the four faiths, the four religions, and the four broad groups of man. Man's appearance on earth is made up of twenty-eight letters. They are, Part of Body Arabic Letter (English pronounciation) Head - Jeem Brain - Meem Forehead - Uthe Right Eyebrow - The Left Eyebrow - Fe Eye - Noon Right Ear - Ulaathu Left Ear - Suadhu Nose Bridge - Alif Throat - Laam Right Shoulder - He Left Shoulder - Khe Adam's Apple - Ye Right Foot - Uthe Left Foot - The Spine - Kaaf Right Rib - Re Left Rib - Ze Right Chest - Seem Left Chest - Sheem Right Shoulder Joint - Ain Left Shoulder Joint - Oin Right Elbow - Kaaf Left Elbow - Fe Stomach - Waav Buttocks - Laam, Alif, Hamz Right Knee Cap - Dhaal Left Knee Cap - Uthaal Allah has by His grace adorned the body of man with these twenty-eight letters. They adorn the head, forehead, brain, eye, ear, nose, throat, shoulder, shoulder joint, throat -junction (Adam's Apple), spine, chest, stomach, hip, knee-cap, and feet. Allah has enlivened and filled this body with many substances. Buried inside man's body are the good and the bad. Dear, Son, if you wish to differentiate between good and bad and clarify yourself, you should associate with a virtuous Guru, perform His bidding, accept His exhortations, record and preserve them in the book of your heart. Then the Master Guru will take that tablet of the heart, read it, and advise you further. He will teach you the secret of assembling the body of man with the twenty-eight letters of grace on each spot. He will show you how to enliven each spot, how to give life to it, how to speak tactfully, how to dismantle the body parts, and how to re-assemble them. In this state, my Son, if your lean the "magic" of dismantling the human body, and re-assembling it, you will witness the Primal One. Dear Son, there are magical numbers to enliven each letter. Learn these numbers from the Guru. Further, this magic contains three Sacred Words. My Son, you should eliminate earth, woman, and gold from your body. No sooner the Guru sees you in this purified state, He will instruct you in the magic of the three Sacred Words. "Be aloof, Be hungry (for knowledge), Be alert." If you diligently observe these three, you will have the Grace of Allah. The Guru's Secret is this. Learn this. Once you have mastered this magic, your Guru will impart to you His Grace, the Gnaana Magic (the Divine Word). The Gnaana Magic, O Son, is comprised of seven sakthis (forces). These seven forces exist as seven days. Seven grahas (planets) are associated with the seven days. They are: Sunday Which belongs to the Sun. This force resides at the base of the spinal column close to the rectum, at the stomach, at the chest, at the forehead, and at the apex of the head. Monday Which belongs to the Moon. This force plays around the six spots, liver, lung, heart, tongue, and brain. Tuesday Which belongs to Mars. This force occupies the womb, small intestine, heart, and below the eyelids. Wednesday Which belongs to Mercury (intelligence and wisdom). This force resides in eight spot, of the stomach, hip, bladder, intestines, gall badder, heart, kidney, and lung.
